Johannes Elsner has been serving as Managing Director and Head of Operations at Allianz Global Investors GmbH since 1 June 2025. He was appointed a member of the Management Board of Allianz Global Investors with effect from 1 December 2025. Prior to joining Allianz Global Investors GmbH, Johannes held several key leadership roles at Universal Investment Group from February 2024 to May 2025, including: • Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) of “Universal- Beteiligungs- und Servicegesellschaft mbH” and a member of the Group Management Board; • Group Chief Operating Officer for all Group entities; • Group Chief Transformation Officer; • Chair of the Supervisory Boards of: o UI efa S.A., Luxembourg (UCITS/AIFM license) o Universal-Investment-Luxembourg S.A. (UCITS/AIFM licence) Before his tenure at Universal Investment Group, Johannes held various positions within ERGO Group AG, Düsseldorf, Germany. These included serving as a member of the Board of Directors (Vorstand) as CIO Group at ERGO Technology & Services Management AG, as well as Chief Transformation Officer on the Board of Directors of ERGO Technology & Services Management AG and ERGO Deutschland AG respectively. Earlier in his career, Johannes worked at McKinsey & Company from 2006 to 2018, where he served as Managing Partner of the Munich Office, was a member of the firm’s Leadership Team in Germany, and led the German Asset Management Practice. Johannes holds a law degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and successfully passed the state examinations in law at the Munich Higher Court. Additionally, he pursued studies at the London School of Economics and is an alumn of the Bavarian Elite Academy.
