Heather Sison is the Senior Head of Investment Operations & Services at CalSTRS, responsible for guiding the operational foundation that supports the Total Fund across public and private markets. In this role, Heather leads efforts that strengthen operational efficiency, promote responsible risk management, and uphold regulatory standards, ensuring that investment activities are executed with clarity, transparency, and integrity. Before joining CalSTRS, Heather spent 16 years at CalPERS as Head of Investment Services, leading major initiatives across Investment Operations. She oversaw enterprise investment planning and a $2.1 billion budget, improved cost efficiency, strengthened contracting and sourcing, and built the organization’s first Market Data operations team. Heather also enhanced GIPS‑compliant investment expense reporting and developed an award‑nominated business intelligence tool for expense management.
