Saphyre first sponsored InvestOps in 2018 as a start-up company on our Dragon’s Den Panel and since then have become one of the headline sponsors. At InvestOps Europe, we spoke to Stephen Roche, President and Co-Founder of Saphyre to see why they sponsored again in 2023.

Why did you choose to sponsor InvestOps Europe in 2023?

Stephen: We’ve sponsored InvestOps for the past 5 years and when it comes to Investment Operations conferences, if you're looking for people who are decision-makers or influencers in the space of operational finance, there's nothing bigger and better than InvestOps.

How have the quality of delegates been?

Stephen: The delegates have been extremely relevant to us. They’re high-level decision-makers, as well as very influential people in the buying process. As a solution provider coming to these conferences, we get to significantly collaborate with a lot of different party members from buy-side asset managers to sell-side broker, to custodians and middle officers. They’re not adverse to having conversations either, they’re happy to learn more about you.

How have you found the networking opportunities?

Stephen: The networking breaks have been very convenient and sociable. The breakout sessions are great because you get to highlight yourself as a vendor if you choose to do one. Rubbing elbows with those same influencers and decision-makers has been very easy here. As far as meeting delegates, if you have a booth in your stand, it’s very easy. We have had a lot of foot traffic just in our booth today, we must’ve met almost 50 people. It’s very relaxed here, no high tense sales discussions or anything of the sort. It’s more problem solving, collaboration, consulting discussion between solution providers and delegates.

How have you found your speaking opportunities?

Stephen: They’ve gone extremely well. My business partners just did a session, and he got a tremendous amount of positive feedback. It’s certainly helped speed up meeting with delegates , sometimes if you’re able to drop a poignant idea or provocative question in your speaking sessions and you have guests on stage that are relevant to solving the problems, it resonates.

We haven’t had more success in any other conference than InvestOps when doing speaking sessions. We’re repeating our investment every year. If you’re a new firm that’s sponsoring, you need to make a splash. And to do that, you need to invest into a creative speaking spot, whether it’s a workshop or a stage presence with other pseudo-clients that you may have.

Would you say sponsoring will have a positive impact on your 2024 business goals?

Stephen: Most definitely, as you can tell, our intention is to continue to sponsor these events year after year for both US and Europe. In operational finance, if you're looking to go to a conference, there's nothing better than an InvestOps conference. 10 out of 10.
